Who We Are
Rising Heroes was born from the deepest pain imaginable.
In the aftermath of October 7th, our Director Ben Milman lost many of his closest friends—brave men, brothers in spirit, people who should have continued building families, careers and dreams. Their absence left a silence that could not be filled, only carried. Out of that silence came a defining question:
What do we do with pain this large?
We chose not to look away.
Rising Heroes was built on the belief that Israel’s strength depends not only on physical defense, but on the inner resilience of those who serve. It is grounded in the understanding that even in the face of profound loss, people have the capacity to transform pain into purpose and trauma into growth.
Today, Israeli Veterans and civilians return home carrying invisible wounds. Many do not meet the threshold for clinical diagnosis, yet they are quietly struggling. Modern military service places them in repeated cycles of intense combat followed by abrupt transitions back to civilian life—often without the time or support needed to process what they have experienced. Without early intervention, these unprocessed experiences can lead to isolation, emotional overload and long-term psychological injury.
Rising Heroes exists in this critical window—before trauma becomes entrenched.
We provide preventative, trauma-informed mental health support focused on early intervention, resilience building and long-term psychological recovery. Our work is grounded in the framework of post-traumatic growth—the belief that individuals can emerge from adversity with renewed strength, meaning and connection.
Through therapeutic retreats, resilience workshops and ongoing support, we create spaces where Veterans can breathe, process, and reconnect—together with those who truly understand their experience.
We do not promise to erase pain—that would be unrealistic.
What we offer is presence, professionalism and the belief that growth is possible even after devastation.
